1st Workshop on
Multiple Concurrent Proposers (MCP)
Co-located with Financial Cryptography and Data Security 2027

About the Workshop
Most blockchain protocols elect a single leader to propose each block, which gives that leader a monopoly over transaction inclusion and ordering and, with it, the ability to extract rents from users in the form of maximal extractable value. MCP is an active area of research that instead lets many validators propose at once. Its central promise is fair access to markets, ensuring censorship resistance and removing the last look advantage that a single proposer holds over market participants. Improved geographic decentralization and higher throughput are among the further benefits it may bring.
Such designs have moved in the space of a few years from an idea to protocols proposed for deployment in major blockchain networks. Research output has followed, with recent work on consensus protocols, transaction fee mechanisms, and batch threshold encryption. The questions raised cut across consensus, cryptography, and mechanism design, and the resulting work is currently split across the venues of these separate communities. The workshop brings the teams building these systems together with the researchers analyzing them while the design space is still open.
This workshop provides a forum for interdisciplinary engagement across consensus, cryptography, mechanism design, and empirical measurement. We welcome both theoretical and empirical work, from either industry or academia, on the design and analysis of MCP protocols as well as the implications of MCP. See the Call for Papers for topics and submission details.
